...Centuries ago, on the forgotten world of Shar, a conclave of some of the
greatest sorcerors in the Universe gathered to study science and magic. In
their studies, they discovered the ultimate combination: mixing technology
with spell-weaving. This strange mating of different taps upon the Essence
of the Universe resulted in many powerful, amazing, and sometimes dangerous
objects and machines. And with their newfound power, they constructed a
magnificent city in the sky -- the City in the Clouds. Everything seemed
to be Heaven on Shar, until one day, every sorceror vanished. The city was
quiet, except for the soft whistling of the wind.
Now, you find yourself preparing to begin a journey... a journey that will take you to the lost City of the Clouds in an attempt to unlock the great mysteries of the hybrid science and magic. Indeed, you seek to master the omnipotent secrets of these ancient sorcerors. As you sit at the terminal of your Adventure-matic Teleportation Device (Sub-Class F), where you have already programmed the coordinates of your destination, you realize all you have to do is click to begin your quest...
...SORCEROR'S ISLE takes place in the mystical City in the Clouds, filled with objects and machines of hybrid science and magic. It is your quest to master this strange technology... exactly how, remains to be discovered. We offer your name in the hall of fame for the first player to sovle this game on their system.
...To exit the City in the Clouds, simply type "exit" at the ">" prompt. This will return you to the main menu of the system. Your character will be kept in "suspended animation" until you enter the game again, so you will return to the exact place you were when you left, without any changes to your character.
If you are lost somewhere in the game and merely wish to start over again, type "restart" at the ">" prompt. WARNING: Doing this will destroy any items or powers your character might have had--it literally starts you over from the beginning again.
...When you see the ">" prompt, you can type "north", "south", "east", or "west" to move in that direction. These commands can be abbreviated as "n", "s", "e", and "w". Although this is the main way to travel in the game, there are other methods, of which we cannot help you with...
...Talking with other players is a very key element in any multi-player adventure game, especially in Sorceror's Isle, where you are speaking with other REAL people. To talk, simply add a verb of speaking (i.e. "say", "ask","comment",etc.) and then what you have to say. Example -- "say hi there, joe!".
To make your voice carry further, use a verb like "yell" or "scream".
...Ahhh, so you need a few starters, eh? Okay, here you go. In this city of the clouds you will find many items, of strange names and properties, and one of the key elements of this game is figuring out how to create these magical items and then how to operate them--we leave this up to you.
Another key feature of this game is the ability to cast spells, using a magical incantation. Example -- "zuganda", which will call upon the mystical forces of sorcery for a marvelous fireworks performance. You might have to fool around with some spells to get their exact syntax, however.
